I am passionate about singing and perform with various semi-professional groups and venues, including opera performances throughout the Los Angeles area. Currently, I am studying voice with Dr. Brian Gill. Outside of my musical pursuits, I love the outdoors and enjoy snowboarding and scuba diving in various parts of the world.
What defines your personality?
Driven, resilient, passionate, responsible, nonjudgmental, and outgoing. I am also adventurous, athletic, and musical. I simply love life and always strive to live it to the fullest. I thrive on growth and enjoy taking opportunities to advance within my career.
Why Did You Choose A Career In Medicine?
Ever since I was young, I have been passionate about singing and studying music. Prior to studying opera performance and music education at Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, I underwent voice rehabilitation to address a voice disorder resulting from phonotrauma. This experience fueled my passion to help other professional voice users regain their voice—an important component of someone’s quality of life. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I observed at the Philadelphia Voice Clinic, where I had the opportunity to empathize with other professional singers experiencing various types of voice disorders. This deep understanding and empathy for patients are qualities I bring into my current treatment, as I wholeheartedly comprehend the detrimental impact of a voice disorder.
Favorite Procedures or Surgeries You Like to Perform?
Assessment of professional voice by performing rigid and flexible laryngoscopy to evaluate the biomechanics of laryngeal function. Additionally, head and neck cancer treatment and management through manual therapy, dysphagia assessment via FEES, swallow therapy, upper airway management, transgender-affirming voice treatment, and neonatal feeding intervention.
Goals that you have either personally, professionally or both?
To perform groundbreaking research in the areas of glottal resistance and airflow.
To continue to grow as a voice and swallowing specialist in order to provide optimal care to patients.
To learn how to incorporate additional software programs and advanced equipment to further assess laryngeal function.
Personally, I want to get married and have a family.
Most influential mentor you've worked with?
Dr. Brian Gill has significantly influenced the way I evaluate and treat vocalists with phonotrauma ever since I started studying voice with him in January 2021.
