Q & A with Rachel:
What Do You Do In Your Time Off?
I love to cook and try new foods and restaurants, spend time with friends, being outdoors at the beach or on a hike, stay active by running or going to Soulcycle classes
What defines your personality?
I believe I am kind, caring, and empathetic.
Why Did You Choose A Career In Medicine?
I started working in a nursing home while in high school and really enjoyed caring for and building rapport with the patients. I continued to work as a caregiver and nursing assistant throughout college and then decided I wanted to expand my knowledge and continue to care for and help people as a provider.
What charities & causes are you passionate about?
I like to give to causes related to women's issues and animals. I have adopted pets from the Humane Society my entire life and enjoy giving back and volunteering there when I can.
What are your favorite procedures or surgeries to perform?
Allergy skin testing
What are your goals personally, professionally or both?
Professionally, I would like to be proficient in medical Spanish in order to better serve Spanish-speaking patients. I would also like to serve as a mentor/preceptor for pre-PA and PA students. Personally, I would like to run a marathon and travel more in the coming years.
Who is the most influential mentor you've worked with?
My most influential mentor was my Family Medicine preceptor while in PA school. He showed me the importance of creating therapeutic relationships with patients, shared decision making, and how to maintain a fun atmosphere at work.
