Q & A with Jeleena:
What do you love to do in your time off?
I mostly enjoy time at home relaxing and watching shows with family/friends, singing karaoke with loved ones, playing basketball and traveling.
Why did you choose a career in Medicine?
I always imagined myself in a job where I can help people and make a positive influence in the community. I became increasingly fascinated with Anatomy/Physiology and Medicine and, honestly, just wanted to learn more about why things happen in our body and what to do if things go wrong. I wanted to go into medicine because it blended these two interests together.
Favorite procedures or surgeries to perform?
Flexible Laryngoscopy and Videostroboscopy
Goals that you have, either personally or professionally or both?
Personally, I hope to maintain a great work-life balance and always stay true to that. Professionally, I hope to learn as much as I can as a PA and try to challenge my skills always. I hope to take advantage of opportunities I have to learn more, while also providing quality care to my patients.
Most influential mentor that you've worked with?
A Gynecologist physician who mentored me while training to be a PA student has influenced me the most. She is a hard-working and extremely knowledgeable medical provider who taught me to enjoy practicing medicine and providing care to patients. She has a lot of compassion for her patients and I would hope to be a provider like her one day.
